OVERALL PERSONALITY:Kiran is a handful. A loud, obnoxious handful. However; there is more to her than what most people will see her as. She has many masks; so many that, given who is asking, she will tell someone bluntly that she doesn't know who she really is anymore. A façade is almost always on her face, and it is likely that she has lost touch of her true emotions.
The main façade she puts up is one that is cheery and fun-loving. As much as it is a façade, it is the truth as well. Kiran genuinely loves having fun. She despises being serious, and aside from when she is on a job, she will actually hold a grudge against anyone who forces her out of her 'happy'. She can be considered a child at heart to most people who only see this side of her, simply because of how carefree she is.
This side of her is the one she shows the most, simply because it's more natural to her. That is, possibly, because it is the closest to her 'true', unbroken self as she can get. Ever since her sister died, the emotions she displays in this mask have felt sort of... dull to her, thus why she has lost trust in it for being genuine. Anyone who would've known her before would notice it as well; the haunting gaze that she can't cover up, the hesitation before she smiles that she didn't have before.
Then... there is her 'dark' side; and what a side it is. This is most easily seen if you wake her up before about eleven am, because she will stomp to the door after throwing on an oversized t-shirt, her hair a mess, and open the door with a glare that could kill. Her anger is one to be wary of, because it's never completely certain what she'll do once someone has angered her. Something as minor as being overly passive-aggressive to trying to permanently scar their face are both very possible outcomes in this stage. She has never killed, and she has no plans on doing so, but that doesn't mean she won't kick you until you're unconscious at her feet. This side has been easier to reveal since the incident, as well. To the point she's never sure exactly when she'll hit that point of blind anger.
And lastly, her emotionless state should be described. If asked, she would say it is the truest of her masks, simply because ever since her sister died, she's felt numb. Like a person watching her life through a movie screen, she just hasn't felt the same. Constantly blaming herself, she's all but shut out most emotion, if only to protect herself from the still-raw grief she feels. This is the side she shows when she is hurt, when she wants to block out confusing emotions, or when she is on a job. She doesn't like showing this side of her personality, because she doesn't like how it makes her feel. She doesn't like being numb, but has accepted it as a part of who she is all the same, and won't try to change it.
All in all, Kiran can be considered 'broken', but it takes someone who truly knows her to be able to see this. Her masks are very believable, but not foolproof.
The personality traits she holds are very genuine, though. The main key I feel I should bring up is her honorable trait. She is true to her word most of the time, and if she says she will do something, it will get done. Even being a liar and other seemingly conflicting negative traits, she does have some honor to her name. Never stealing from the poor, feeding the homeless when she can, and things of the sort are the fashion of which she is honorable.
In short, Kiran is very blunt. She says what is on her mind unless you give her reason to silently plot your demise. In general, she is caring to even complete strangers if they give her reason to be. While she isn't intelligent in terms of book-smarts, she knows more than the average Joe about street-smarts. Joyful and optimistic, she will generally try to see the best of the situations at hand, if only because she craves the dreams of her youth... but this is something that has been clouded by the recent events. Protective of those who have earned the right, she would rather die before she lets them get hurt. Even as broken as she considers herself, she will stand on her own two feet and take on a train if she had to.
Even as such, she is very childish. With comments like 'that isn't fair' or, more often, pouting and other childish actions, it is often shown how unserious she is most of the time. This is one trait that completely dissolves past her first mask, though some of her thoughts are still reminiscent of the ignorance of a child. Defensive even when not needed, the trait has gotten her into a fair amount of disagreements. Disregardful of her safety and of others at times, she can be out only for herself if she is in such a mood. Greedy comes with the trait of being a thief; what is yours will be hers if she has any say in it. A liar, secretive, and unable to trust are traits that pushes most people away from her on a friendly level when they find these traits out, and normally completely throws the idea of a romantic encounter with her out the window. Merciless and unforgiving; if you get on her shit list, don't count on getting off of it easily, and she will sooner watch you dig your own grave than to help you if you earn yourself a spot on it.
And that is Kiran in a nutshell.
HISTORYAn average beginning to an otherwise average girl. Kiran's life started out hard and difficult, but she didn't have many reasons to complain. Her parents, though struggled to do so, kept a roof over the heads of her sister and her. Some days they went without a dinner, eating small snacks throughout the day to save what they did have for the next day, but there was nothing really lacking about it.She was content.
For the first five years of her life, this was tune that her life sang. She learned how to take care of herself, and her younger sister of three years, when her parents were out working odd-end jobs to put food on the table. By the time she had turned five, she knew how to cook simple things and entertain her sibling to distract her from the fact they were alone. She loved her sister very much, and proved to be a protective older sister. Always the tomboy, she wasn't afraid to kick the taller kids in their neighborhood in the shins when they tried to pick on them. It wasn't uncommon for her to come home bruised and hurt, either, much to her mother's dismay and the fussing that ensued.
When she turned seven, her father was lucky enough to get a solid job. Nothing fancy, he worked at one of the local Marts in the daytime. Still, it was enough that life slowly improved for the family. Her parents started saving back, promising brilliant futures and giving hopes to their two young daughters. Everything good is shortly-lived, as Kiran learned shortly after.
First it was just one game. "Only a little something on the side", he had said. Then it turned into a weekly thing, followed by the addiction of returning to the gambling arena every night. As quickly as their hopes had risen, everything was stripped from them, her father gambling it all away. Her mother did nothing to stop it, either, much to Kiran's irritation. Eight years old and already able to blame her father for his weakness, it wasn't long before she started spending more time outside-anything to get away from the fact that all their dreams had, in her young mind, been so close to forming.
Hunger hit the family again, worse than it had been even when she was younger. Many nights were spent hungry, and it infuriated the young child. Always independent, she started to seek ways to solve the issue. She concocted brilliant schemes; ones including wild fantasies that only a child could form... but that was brought to a halt when she saw an innocent dollar poking out of someone's pocket. A dollar that, while the person was busy rambling to their companion, didn't seem to be important to the fellow. So, ever so silently, she took it.
Now, it would really be a fantasy to say she got away with it. In fact, the man spun around so fast and smacked her across the face so hard she thought she'd have broken something. The man had known exactly who she was, as well, and the walk to her house was a long, terrifying one. All the same, somewhere, the girl had decided how she would solve their issues-even if it meant a dollar at a time.
At first her parents did nothing. Giving her the silent treatment and a slap on the wrist, they thought their upbringing would have taught her better and she had learned her lesson.
When she brought home fresh fruit from the market with little explanation other than "They gave it to me", they had their suspicions, but they were good-natured people and didn't think the worst of their daughter. After all; they had raised her better! Certainly she would never steal things that were not hers. But it continued, and she got bold; bold enough, that one day a year later, she was yet again led to her door with a woman barking insults at her parents. She had tried to steal the woman's purse, and Kiran had never seen the anger her parents lashed out at her that night. Shouting until the early hours of the night; she was forced to stay inside for several days as punishment.
But Kiran had already tasted what she considered as 'freedom', and she didn't stop. By the time she turned ten, she had been caught three more times. Her parents were at wits end to try and figure out what to do with the girl, and one night after a particularly wealthy man tracked them down and demanded compensation for the trouble she caused him, her parents turned violent.
She shut down after that, but by no means stopped stealing. She looked after her sister, after all. There was more to it than just feeding her, and her father had shown no signs of quitting the gambling tables, even though he had long since lost his job and her mother had to make up for the lost wage. She spent more time away from home; sometimes refusing to even come back at all. She started to live the life of a homeless girl at the young age, only returning to sneak her sister some food every couple of days. She didn't even speak to her parents, didn't look at them if they even saw her. They had turned into strangers in her eyes.
A kind stranger took her in, and under his wing. A master thief, he had seen some sort of potential in her-or, that was what he told her. Most of the people she ran into on the streets were good people, who honestly wanted to look out for her. This individual was no different, and she was soon introduced into the world of 'high-class' thieving. Now, she was by no means the best thief around, but she was skilled enough to get jobs done without much issue once the years passed by. By the time she was seventeen, she moved to her own city, confident in her abilities, and made a promise to her sister to return for her when she made a stable living.
She took her own jobs, as well as stealing enough low-priced items to rent out a small apartment in the city. She even took a job under one of the breeders of the area, learning the trade to earn some type of 'honest' living... and a cover up, mostly.
When the attacks started, it took a while before word was brought to her by her mentor that her sister and family had fallen victim to the earthquakes in Johto. The news devastated her, and sent her packing up and returning to her home to see the destruction first-hand. It was worse, much worse than she could've imagined. Her small hometown was nothing but rubble, and only a few familiar faces walked through the remaining rubble. Those who lived through the event had long since left by the time she had got there, and the resounding silence caused something to break.
Eventually, she gathered herself up enough to travel to Sinnoh. Buying a small house on the edge of a small town, Kiran has continued her work as a breeder. Trying to find some sort of ground to stand on, to brace herself against the emotions that are still so raw. She's fallen back on the most basic training her mentor had given her when she first found him; the many masks of a true thief.
OTHERKiran is a very... loud person. though she may act like she's put her past behind her most days, it wouldn't be surprising to find her in a quiet corner of a town just staring into the nothingness, lost in thought. From excessive jewelry to vibrant colors; she will use every trick in her book to keep people from thinking that something isn't quite right about how she acts.
However, one thing about her wardrobe is that she never has her back exposed. While she didn't stay with her parents for long after they turned abusive for turning her back on their ways (and they panicked from it), there are a few scars from their beatings there... not to mention various other scars from heists gone wrong. She hides them to avoid questions, even if most of them are nearly invisible except to a trained eye.
Kiran has stayed neutral for one, sole, reason. The Knights were the instigators that caused her to lose the one person she still loved in her family, and the Rangers would sooner lock her away with the Knights before they so much as looked at her, knowing her list of 'crimes'. She has no interest in the impending war, and has no interest in getting involved, either. She is perfectly content with the idea of staying in her small town for the rest of her life, aside from when her mentor requests her to help out on some heist.
Her mentor trained her in many things, namely kickboxing. She knows how to fight without a weapon and with a weapon, and often will prefer to kick someone in the gut rather than duel in a fight with her Pokèmon. In fact, she rather dislikes battling and finds it rather rash and brutal. She would much rather have a duel of strength than a duel of training.
Aside from kickboxing, she knows how to use small weapons such as daggers and throwing knives to various degrees, but all of her forms of fighting are rather unrefined. She is by no means the best and has often had her butt handed to her, but it's something. She does train for a decent amount of time each day after she wakes up, too.POKEMON
